Most people are familiar with the general concept of design as a creative process; however good engineers specifically understand how to create novel solutions within the constraints of physics, economics and the expectations of society. This unit introduces design through two practical group activities: Water Rocket, and Wing design. The goal is to set students on a path towards becoming a competent engineering designer by the end of their degree programme.
