Develop in-depth knowledge in an area of genomics related practice to underpin the development of advanced practice skills within this focussed area of health care;2. Develop the knowledge and skills to facilitate independent, self-directed learning and critical reflection;3. Enable students to develop and become competent in a specific area of advanced practice skills within the field of genomic practice.</div>    To fulfil the diverse educational needs of the NHS workforce, innovative pedagogies are required to facilitate the development and implementation of specialist roles. This module provides a unique opportunity for students to develop a bespoke module in an area of specialised practice, to be undertaken in the workplace. It is a pedagogy that suits specialist areas of medicine and science which cannot be provided by traditional teaching methods alone. <div>  Negotiated Work Based learning (NWBL) brings the university and the workplace together to create bespoke learning in the workplace and is therefore a suitable pedagogy to develop specific roles.  NWBL is a tripartite agreement between student, their employer and the University, with core learning occurring at and through the work place, rather than being focused in a University environment. NWBL can meet specific learner needs, which cannot be met by more traditional approaches, and can contribute to organisational objectives whilst continuing to be an accredited university programme/degree. Students who register for this module must have a defined area of genomic clinical practice to negotiate with the academic team at application, to ensure that the intended learning outcomes for the module are suited to this type of learning. Indicative Content:•           Theories of effective work-based learning•           Bespoke learning and impact on patient outcomes•           Module development and assessment•           Negotiating and effecting a bespoke module specification•           Time and project management•           Genomic clinical practice and the purposes of genomic testing•           Work-based learning in practice•           Developing, effecting bespoke/ advanced skills in the workplace•           Strategies for assessment of competence and building capability•           Critical reflection models•           Clinical insight: Roles, boundaries, patient safeguarding•           Effective management of change / implementation</div>    The unit aims to: <div> 1.
