Through the lens of various cultural, sociological and economic theories, students will critically analyse the dynamic relationship between culture and industry within the context of artistic and cultural production. The course aims to foster a nuanced understanding of these industries' social, economic, and political implications, considering theories and concepts such as Critical Theory, Cultural Capital, Sustainable Development, Symbolic Goods and Cultural Economy. Students will learn how these cultural, sociological and economic perspectives influence cultural goods and services creation, dissemination, and consumption, ultimately shaping the broader landscape of global creative and cultural industries.
