Municipal water and wastewater treatment processes will be covered, focusing on key unit processes including sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. Design considerations and operation of water treatment processes will be considered along with emerging issues in water treatment and the advanced technologies to address them.2. Air pollution problems and control techniques<span style="font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif;font-size:11.0pt;layout-grid-mode:line;mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-bidi-font-family:Aptos;mso-bidi-font-style:italic;mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin;">Students will gain an overview of air pollution problems and range of techniques which are available for its control. The sources and effects of air pollutants of major concern and the development of air quality criteria will be covered. An overview of current EU and UK environmental legislation is provided, and the role of the assessment and control of air pollution in the planning application of existing and new industrial process is discussed. An Introduction to the selection and design of air pollution control processes including, cyclone design, electrostatic precipitator design, and particulate scrubbers.Links to UN Sustainable Development Goals:- 6.
