    <Content>&lt;p&gt;Agile software engineering is an approach to the creation of software systems that puts the delivery of value at the heart of the process.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Software has the potential to allow us (organisations, business, governments, families, etc) to do more, in less time, at less cost, in more flexible ways, and that scales in ways unimaginable with wholly manual processes.&amp;nbsp; But poor software can also act against us, putting barriers in the way of goals, taking control away from the people who most need it, and adding complexity where it is not needed or beneficial.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As software engineers, it is our task to create software that opens up opportunities, rather than closing them down.&amp;nbsp; This is challenging, and requires a range of skills, including people management and communication as well as the technical skills that go beyond simply &amp;ldquo;coding&amp;rdquo; to the design of efficient and effective systems, that are deployed for use in ways that keep them manageable and sustainable for as long as they are needed.&amp;nbsp; Agile software engineering is a family of such techniques that aims to maximise the value delivered from each software project, by working in close collaboration with users and stakeholders and by applying best practice development techniques and tools to create flexible, clean and malleable software systems.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This flexible learning course unit brings together a range of concepts and skills needed by agile software engineers, from requirements gathering and project planning through user experience design and incremental development through to the long term management and maintenance of systems.&amp;nbsp; It covers the same materials as 4 of our undergraduate course units at level 5 and 6.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</Content>
