Students are encouraged to attend relevant seminars in other clinical disciplines to gain a broad-based perspective to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.Seminars will be planned and reading from the scientific literature on related subjects will be assigned; the aim being to expose the student to a wide range of topics in a short period. Students will be challenged to assess the available evidence and to determine the biological basis for acceptable and non-acceptable methods and techniques.Instruction will be given in clinical and laboratory aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This instruction will take the form of demonstrations, shadowing of Consultant staff, seminars and practical laboratory and clinical exercises. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a clinical discipline which involves diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of pathological conditions affecting the oro-facial region and associated structures.
