DENT64020 Clinical Case Reflection and Presentation II 15 Full year Postgraduate Taught Level 7 Samina Iram Unit coordinator School of Medical Sciences 1 FHEQ level (Framework for Higher Education Qualifications) ' Masters/Integrated Masters P4 ' European Credit Transfer & Accumulation System Rating : 7.5 The aim of these units is to provide the clinical skills and attitudes required for clinical practice in periodontology.The units build on knowledge gained in the pre-requisite units to enhance applied application of knowledge to the clinical environment through direct clinical experience, directed learning and guided reflection, including aspects of patient management, planning provision of care, review of clinical procedures and clinical reflection.Each student is required to present a completed case for examination. The selected case presentation will be in the form of a written record and should be presented as a typed report. The presentation record should include a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s dental problems and all relevant complicating factors. Results of all special investigations should be discussed. The aims and objectives of the proposed treatment should be clearly stated as should be the reasons given for the proposed treatment plan. A chronological record of the treatment provided should be presented, outlining details of procedures used, inclusive of materials. The outcome of the treatment should be discussed.Equally, the candidate should discuss, given the benefit of hindsight, whether modification(s) of the treatment plan might have brought about a different outcome. A copy of this record should be submitted to the Programme Director at least two weeks prior to the viva voce.
