The students will also be expected to go into detail of diagnosis and treatment planning. Also some aspects of general restorative care and treatment planning will be assessed.</p> <p> The unit aims to:</p> <p> Provide each participant with a comprehensive experience and training in the practical tasks of endodontic treatment. There will also be a refresher into basic dental examination and medical emergencies. Furthermore, the assessment and treatment planning elements will incorporate aspects of other relevant dental disciplines.</p> <p> It will also aim to not only develop clinical abilities but also to stimulate critical and analytical thinking in clinical endodontics.</p> <p> Students should/will be able to:</p> <ul> <li> Understand the role of non surgical and surgical endodontic therapy for treatment of endodontic disease. </li> <li> Understand the influence that the patient’s general health may have on the use of non surgical and surgical therapy. </li> <li> Demonstrate knowledge to practice effective non surgical and surgical therapy, communicating with both specialist and non-specialist colleagues.</li> <li> Demonstrate knowledge of general restorative care and the Restoration of the endodontically treated tooth. </li> <li> Understand and demonstrate the use of endodontic equipment.</li> </ul> <p>Students should/will be able to:</p><ul><li>Understand limitations, benefits and risks of methods of non surgical.</li><li>Recognises own limitations, reflect on experiences.</li></ul> <p> Students should/will be able to:</p> <ul> <li> Understand and demonstrate the use of endodontic equipment.</li> <li> Undertake safe and effective non surgical endodontic therapy.</li> </ul> <p> Students should/will be able to:</p> <ul> <li> Logical, systematic and thorough approach to endodontic / dental assessments.</li> </ul> <ul><li>Seminar - facilitate learning and understanding of concepts.</li><li>Hands on pre-clinical sessions on simulated teeth or extracted teeth.</li><li>Demonstration of equipment and techniques.</li><li>Self directed learning - reflection of clinical sessions and broaden knowledge and understanding of topic.</li><li>Formative assessment - use of log book to allow discussion of pre-clinical sessions.</li></ul> 0 Other 100% <p>OSCE - 100%</p><p>This unit is non-compensatable.
