This module runs alongside eart30300 and learning during this course unit builds from one week to the next, with 5 weekly 2-hour sessions in each semester (usually a combination of a 1 hour lecture and a 1 hour example class). To be successful, it is essential that students attend every session and revise the previous week's materials between classes.

When possible the lectures are posted as PowerPoint presentations on Blackboard. Students are expected to study the lecture material primarily by reading this material on Blackboard. A large part of this course deals with the critical literature. For this the students are expected to read a substantial amount of carefully selected research literature, guided by their individual project supervisor.
