<div> <div> <div> <p>The aims of the course are to provide the students all core skills needed to undertake a substantial independent research project in environmental science, produce a scientific report based on their findings and communicate their ideas and findings clearly and concisely to a scientific audience.</p></div> </div></div><p> </p>

<div> <div> <p>This module runs alongside eart30300 and learning during this course unit builds from one week to the next, with 5 weekly 2-hour sessions in each semester (usually a combination of a 1 hour lecture and a 1 hour example class). To be successful, it is essential that students attend every session and revise the previous week's materials between classes.</p><p>When possible the lectures are posted as PowerPoint presentations on Blackboard. Students are expected to study the lecture material primarily by reading this material on Blackboard. A large part of this course deals with the critical literature. For this the students are expected to read a substantial amount of carefully selected research literature, guided by their individual project supervisor. </p></div></div><p> </p>
