The unit is taught via lectures with practical exercises. Exercises use real-world oil field problems and serve to apply theoretical knowledge into practice. The contents are assessed via examination which requires students to apply knowledge to an unknown problem, research key information themselves, and integrate. Informal feedback on formative exercises is available during lectures and practical exercises. The exam scripts can be viewed at the start of semester 2.

.
