<p>This course is an introduction to issues in bilingualism from a variety of perspectives. Topics covered will include the acquisition of two languages from birth, language choice and code-switching, bilingual communities, societal attitudes to bilingualism and bilingual educational policies.</p>
<p>This course is an introduction to issues in bilingualism from a variety of perspectives. Topics covered will include the acquisition of two languages from birth, language choice and code-switching, bilingual communities, societal attitudes to bilingualism and bilingual educational policies.</p>
<p><em>This unit aims to:</em></p><p>introduce the study of bilingualism from an educational and social perspective</p><p>provide an evidence-based rationale for the adoption of bilingual policies within the family and in the community.</p>
