  <MarketingOverview Applicant="Y" Label="Marketing Course unit overview" Student="">
    <Content>&lt;p&gt;This unit explores how schools can better understand, value and support the local communities they serve. Students will consider how professionals’ knowledge of the communities where they work, and the knowledge children, families and wider residents have about where they live, can be brought together to create new, powerful, local education strategies. Students will be supported to consider the challenges and opportunities schools face in accessing and acting on local knowledge. Real world examples will be used to bring these issues to life. There will be a specific focus on what schools – working with and for their local communities – can do to mitigate the wider impacts of poverty on children’s education and wider outcomes. The unit has a strong social responsibility dimension and will appeal to students interested in working in and around schools – in pastoral and outreach roles, in public services, and in the charity sector.&lt;/p&gt;</Content>
