Building on students’ prior learning including residence in Japan, the course aims to strengthen students’ proficiency up to advanced level across the four core language areas (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), with a focus on expressive accuracy and effective communication. Students will expand vocabulary, refine grammatical understanding, and develop confidence through activities such as discussion, presentation, writing tasks, and integrated practice.The Business Japanese option aims to develop workplace communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to operate in professional environments. The Engaging Japanese Texts option aims to develop the ability to understand advanced Japanese texts accurately, respond to them communicatively, and translate them into appropriate English. <ul><li>Enhanced understanding of the characteristics of the Japanese language and its usage.</li><li>Increased knowledge and skills to monitor and improve students’ own oral and written output.</li><li>Further understanding of the skills required for advanced and professional use of Japanese.</li><li>Understanding of issues around translation, possible solutions to them and ways to apply them in various situations (e.g. every-day conversations, business scenes, translating prose or newspaper articles, academic contexts etc.).</li></ul> <ul><li>Ability to articulate and defend ideas in discussion, presentations and written argument.</li><li>Ability to acknowledge differing viewpoints and contribute constructively by suggesting solutions or compromises.</li><li>Ability to use appropriate resources to clarify understanding and apply knowledge
