    <Content>&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;Banks, Banking Groups, Multi-functional banks and Interbank networks&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Theories of regulation: prudential regulation and conduct of business; systemic risk; capital and liquidity requirements; banking rescues; sectoral regulators vs. single regulators vs, "twin peaks"&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The regulatory architecture: Bank of International Settlements (the Basel system); the European supervisory agencies; Central Banks; financial regulators (Prudential Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The banker-customer relationship; regulating banking contracts; confidentiality and bank secrecy; advisory and transactional liability ("lender liability")&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Payment and Payment Systems; Modes of payment; settlement, clearing and netting&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Lending: terms in bank lending; default; security&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Trade finance: documentary bills; letters of credit; and autonomous payment instruments (performing bonds; demand guarantees; stand-by letters of credit)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;The international dimension; international banking; the single European market; regulating foreign banks; cross-border issues.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</Content>

    <Content>&lt;p&gt;To introduce students to the principles of international, regional and UK baking law and practice by highlighting:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;1. the principal business theories&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;2. the role of the modern multi functional banks, including investment banking, provision of credit and as a payment services providers&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;3. banks and their role in provision of finance and facilitating trade.&lt;/p&gt;</Content>
