The unit aims to:The course aims to provide UG students with the opportunity to look more closely at selected contemporary issues in European Union law, including a wide range of questions of both EU constitutional and EU substantive law, which have an impact on domestic law and Brexit. The course aims to build on the knowledge acquired in LAWS32401 European Union Law and provide insights into topical issues of EU law.This optional course unit is available to LLB Law, Law with Criminology and Law with Politics students in Year 3 of their studies. Identify and analyse the scope, effect, and limitations of key EU legal provisions in the - fields of free movement of services, freedom of establishment and free movement of capital, and evaluate these provisions in light of the EU’s wider social and political context. Explain and critically evaluate the role of EU law within the UK and the relationship between the EU and UK post-Brexit, within the wider political and legal context of the UKI and EU. Explain and critically evaluate the status and role of the general principles of EU law and fundamental rights within EU law. Explain and critically evaluate methods by which EU law is integrated within the domestic legal systems of certain EU member states. Apply EU legal methodology to make a reasoned judgement on an area of law. Develop and demonstrate problem-solving, analytical, and essay-writing skills. Synthesise doctrinal and policy issues in relation to a topic. Present a logically reasoned and persuasive written argument on a specified area of EU law and support that argument with appropriate evidence. Work independently to plan and undertake tasks. Critically assess the validity and utility of different sources. This course unit uses a combination of lectures and 1-hour seminars as the scheduled teaching and learning activities. Lectures will introduce the content and skills taught on this course. Seminars provide students with the opportunity for in-depth discussion of the course content and to practice their analytical and problem-solving skills. Seminars will be led by a seminar taker who will guide the student discussion. Time within both lectures and seminars will be dedicated to supporting students to develop their research, critical analysis, and problem-solving skills with a focus on the completion of the summative coursework.This course unit has a Blackboard page which will be used to deliver the range of course materials and information about teaching, learning and assessment for that course unit. This page will also include optional online resources and activities for students to complete outside of scheduled teaching time to support their learning. 2 Written assignment (inc essay) 100% A. Summative Feedback: Individual feedback on the coursework will be provided  electronically. Following the confirmation of the assessment results by the School's Exam Board students may, upon request, receive further clarification of their individual feedback on their performance in the module by the course director(s).B. Formative Feedback:<ul><li>Lectures (including the introductory lecture, a virtual lecture on legal writing skills, and revision lectures) and seminars/tutorials;</li><li>Student Communication and interaction with lecturers/tutors (in classes, office hours and/or electronically);</li><li>Outline of draft answer to coursework assignment: Students are encouraged, if they wish, to submit to their tutor(s) a short (no longer than 300-word or one page long) outline of the draft structure of their planned answer to the coursework assignment. This should be submitted or emailed to their tutor(s) no later than the end of Week 10.
