    <Content>&lt;p&gt;This programme unit draws on the expertise of several members of staff, to provide a wide range of topics in essential textile manufacturing technologies. This unit provides fundamental knowledge in textile technology for more advanced topics in the MSc programme. Students will be introduced to the key manufacturing processes of yarns, woven and knitted fabrics, and the finishing and colouration of textiles.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Brief Syllabus:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Fibre preparation for spinning, carding, drawing, roving and ring spinning. Importance of fibre specifications and criteria for twist selection.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Fundamentals of weaving, shuttle looms, timing diagrams, shuttleless looms, multiphase looms, quick style change systems, warp preparation, warping, sizing.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Classification and analysis of knitting techniques and knitting cycles; patterning and shaping; flat bed and circular knitting machines; knitting cycle of Flatbed and circular knitting machines; dynamics of the weft knitting zone, needles and cams on flatbed and high-speed circular knitting machines.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Introduction to the principles of textile preparation, wet and dry processing, and colouration, dye fibre interactions and textile dyeing; preparation, finishing and dyeing machinery.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Supporting laboratory classes.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;4 hrs each for spinning, weaving, knitting and colouration.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</Content>
