    <Content>&lt;p&gt;This programme unit draws on the expertise of several members of staff, to provide a wide range of topics in advanced textile manufacturing technologies. This unit provides advanced and in-depth knowledge in textile technology to equip students with skills and ability to engineer and manufacture advanced textile materials and products.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Brief Syllabus:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Lectures (30 hours)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Xiaogang Chen (12x1 hour): Advanced weaving technology&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Theoretical analysis of cloth formation; study of fabric shrinkage; design and manufacture of various types of 3D woven fabrics; special requirements for weaving high-performance yarns; CAD concepts and weave CAD software.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Anura Fernando (9x1 hour): Advanced knitting technology&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Analysis and representation of important knitted structures; knitwear manufacture; use of KnitCAD in knitwear design and development; seamless and 3D knitting technology in particular spacer constructions; quality assurance in knitting.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hugh Gong (9Xx hour): Advanced yarn technology&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Advanced ring spinning, modern spinning techniques, yarn quality control and preparation.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Laboratory classes&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Mark Chadwick (2x2 hours): Weaving labs&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Weave-1: Design and weaving of multilayer fabrics&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Weave-2: Design and weaving of 3D angle interlock fabrics&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Stephen Gillespie (2x2 hours): Yarn labs&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Y&amp;amp;N-1: Rotor and ring spinning&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Y&amp;amp;N-2: Wrap spinning&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Laura-Ann Kavanagh (2x2 hours): Knitting labs&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Knit-1: Links structures (Shima programming)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Knit-2: Warp knitting&lt;/p&gt;</Content>
