    <Content>&lt;p&gt;The communication and visualisation of the technical aspects of textile products are vital skills for the modern textile scientist.&amp;nbsp; The specification and quantification of aspects of the product such as the colour, moisture-management and thermal comfort are directly associated with quality by the consumer.&amp;nbsp; CAD systems, such as Lectra, allow for the visualisation of the final product.&amp;nbsp; Pattern making for the manufacture of body-worn product development can be created using Lectra and the final product can be visualised within a virtual retail environment.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;This programme unit draws on the expertise of several members of staff, to provide a wide range of topics in several areas.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</Content>

    <Content>&lt;p style="text-align:justify; margin-bottom:13px"&gt;The communication and visualisation of the technical aspects of textile products are vital skills for the modern textile scientist.&amp;nbsp; The specification and quantification of aspects of the product such as the colour, moisture-management and thermal comfort are directly associated with quality by the consumer.&amp;nbsp; CAD systems, such as Lectra, allow for the visualisation of the final product.&amp;nbsp; Pattern making for the manufacture of body-worn product development can be created using Lectra and the final product can be visualised within a virtual retail environment.&amp;nbsp; This programme unit draws on the expertise of several members of staff, to provide a wide range of topics in the following areas. The student should:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Colour Measurement and Colour Communication&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;gain an appreciation of the international standard for the scientific communication of colour (the CIE System) and the related sensory, physical and chemical basis of colour. The concepts underpinning colour recipe prediction systems, advanced colour physics and more advanced colour quality-control metrics will also be discussed.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Textile Performance Evaluation&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;establish an advanced knowledge of textile testing including aspects such as the influence of moisture; thermal comfort and the moisture management of clothing including methods of assessment for fabric &amp;ldquo;serviceability&amp;rdquo;.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Clothing/CAD and Fabric Joining Techniques&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;advance and apply knowledge of human measurement and pattern making in the Lectra CAD system to explore body worn product development and considerations of manufacture. Fabric joining techniques will be explored alongside virtual fitting in a commercial and retail setting, the current orthodoxy of human size and shape will be discussed and cutting edge developments in made to measure clothing introduced. The emphasis here will be on how to understand body worn product development and the necessary knowledge and technologies that support it.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;Workshops 6 hours CAD and 6 hours Colour Measurement&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;apply their knowledge in the laboratory and workshop sessions.&amp;nbsp; These sessions include:&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;Colour Measurement Laboratories&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;CAD Workshops&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;</Content>

    <Content>&lt;p&gt;The unit aims to introduce the student to two main areas of study:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;advanced concepts in scientific colour measurement and communication, coloration and the performance evaluation of textiles.&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;fabric joining techniques and advanced CAD/CAM techniques related to 2D fabrics and 3D products based on the Lectra CAD/CAM systems.&lt;br /&gt;	&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;</Content>
