    <Content>&lt;p&gt;The aims of this 15-credit unit are to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the immunological factors impacting donor selection for allogeneic transplantation patients, with an emphasis on the genes encoded within the major histocompatibility gene complex. You will focus on kidney transplantation, as an exemplar of solid organ transplantation, and haematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation (HPCT). For each of these, you will gain an understanding of the clinical indications for transplantation, available donor options, and the clinical investigation of immunological compatibility used in patient:donor selection strategies. You will become familiar with the principles of the laboratory techniques and assays used in this context, gain experience in the interpretation of their results, and be aware of the testing strategies employed in a variety of kidney transplantation and HPCT clinical settings. &amp;nbsp;Finally, you will evaluate the legislative and ethical factors impacting regulation of kidney transplantation and HPCT.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</Content>
