This module presents the basic theoretical development of quality management and the underpinning organisational structures, processes and change which can enable the delivery of ‘quality’ products and services.

For products and services in some sectors, discussions of quality must take account of industry standards and government regulations: examples are drawn from both industry specifications and government guidance. A number of tools and techniques for quality management are presented, including those used at the level of process and those used at strategic level; opportunities for the practical application of these tools and techniques are provided.

 </MarketingOverview>
 <UnitOverview Applicant="" Label="Course unit overview" Student="Y">

The integration and interdisciplinary learning of quality management systems in organisations are discussed, considering relevant factors, e.g., culture, leadership, human resource management, teamwork and organisational structure.

The above themes are explored, working in an iterative and cumulative manner, which is, building models of understanding of QM around different central issues, while integrating themes explored previously. For instance, the SIPOC model in supply chain management and the EFQM model in performance management are used to provide frameworks within which conversations about quality can be held.
