<MarketingOverview Applicant="Y" Label="Marketing Course unit overview" Student="">

A course dealing with a broad range of compositional techniques involving the use of cutting-edge technology and building upon studio-based electroacoustic composition concepts and methodologies encountered in other related course-units, extending into a wide range of material contexts, practical techniques, performance issues and advanced sound processing.

 </MarketingOverview>
 <UnitOverview Applicant="" Label="Course unit overview" Student="Y">

The course provides electroacoustic composers with advanced knowledge and critical thinking to compose music and to build systems within the fixed electroacoustic medium. This course builds upon other electroacoustic composition courses in the syllabus, and includes the study of relevant repertoire, and developing appropriate software based strategies. Advanced processing techniques including FFT analysis and re-synthesis, granular synthesis and time-varied processing are covered, as are issues related to space-form and sound diffusion. Electroacoustic music in relation to other disciplines (for example, sound design and audio-visual relationships) may also be covered. Lecture content, workshop topics, directed repertoire study and practical set-tasks with formative feedback will support student work on a final creative project.
