    <Content>&lt;div&gt;&lt;p&gt;The provision of burn rehabilitation has impacted upon increased survival rates. This unit covers scar management, psychology, pain management, return to work and social reintegration. This unit will be suitable for nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, dieticians and other members of the multi-professional team as appropriate.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The curriculum will cover both child and adult aspects of burn injury.&amp;nbsp; Application of theory into practice will be developed through the following unit content:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Chronic burn wound pathophysiology and management&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The role of the physiotherapist/occupational therapist, microbiologist and dietician in the outpatient setting.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Burn Scars:&amp;nbsp; pathophysiology, prevention and management (including Pressure Garment Technicians)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Reconstructive Surgery.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Chronic/neuropathic pain and its management.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Use of external agencies for ongoing support.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Role of splinting and prosthetics.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Skin Camouflage.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Role of Welfare rights and disabilities officers.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The psychological self and psychological adjustment post burn injury: The psychologist&amp;rsquo;s role and general management.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Experience of grief and loss post burn injury&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Body Image - theory and assessment.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Reintegrating back into home, school, college, work and social life.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Counselling.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Patient Diaries.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Patient Education and Aftercare&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Role of the Burns Outreach Service.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; The wider MDT &amp;ndash; GP, Community Nursing Services, Community physio/OT and their input into burn rehabilitation.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</Content>
