    <Content>&lt;div&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The &amp;ldquo;Personal&amp;rdquo; development aspect is based on transferable skills that support the academic curriculum, enhance the student&amp;rsquo;s CV and increase their employability.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;The &amp;ldquo;Professional&amp;rdquo; development aspect is based on developing a rich understanding of the modes of practice of the profession of Optometry.&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;There is also a &amp;ldquo;medical ethics and law&amp;rdquo; aspect to the unit, which discusses issues relevant to working in the profession of healthcare.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;The aforementioned three aspects combine to give the student the opportunity to become a well-developed practitioner with excellent communication skills who is sought after by the best employers.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</Content>

    <Content>&lt;p&gt;Students should be able to:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;appreciate the different ways in which Optometry is practiced, worldwide&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;understand the role of Research Ethics Committees and the need for the regulation of research involving human subjects (for example, to develop knowledge of the Nuremberg Code and the declaration of Helsinki)&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;present themselves in an academic CV (including a covering letter) and in an interview situation (conducted by fellow Optometry Undergraduates)&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;produce an Optometry-related research poster&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;develop an understanding of the ethical and practical issues involved in allocating funding for healthcare.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;Students will develop skills in:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;giving and receiving feedback&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;oral and written presentation and communication&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;professional behaviour&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;team and/or group working&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;reflecting on what they have learnt in PPD B and how they can apply this as a healthcare professional.&lt;br /&gt;	&amp;nbsp;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;</Content>

Learning experiences are split amongst the three main themes:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;Personal Development&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;Planning your future career; auditing employability skills; producing a CV and covering letter and presenting yourself at interviews&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;Development of numeracy skills&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;Producing a scientific research poster&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;Reflection on &amp;ldquo;communication&amp;rdquo; (online group meeting) performance&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Professional Development&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;The different scopes of Optometry, as practised in the UK and elsewhere in other countries.&lt;/li&gt;	&lt;li&gt;Insight into employment and contract law (including &amp;lsquo;tort&amp;rsquo; law). The role of optometrists in vision research. Communication in different patient scenarios.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;em&gt;Medical Ethics&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;	&lt;li&gt;Healthcare ethics and law; public health; resource allocation within the NHS; the history of research ethics and the role of Research Ethics Committees (RECs).&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;</Content>
