To prepare students to use optometric instrumentation likely to be encountered in their third year clinics.  <ul> <li>To be able to use a variety of slit lamp bio-microscopes, tonometers and perimeters and interpret the results of tests carried out.</li> <li>To be able to select appropriate optometric instruments, tests and techniques for different clinical situations (including assessment of colour vision and contrast sensitivity).</li> <li>To understand the theory, design and development of the instruments / tests covered.</li></ul> The module consists of a series of linked theory and practical sessions which cover the development, design and use of the instrumentation likely to be encountered in general optometric practice.Emphasis is placed on the practical or ‘hands on’ use of the instruments, in preparation for participation in the third year optometric clinics. 1 Written exam 85% 8 Practical skills assessment 15% Detailed one-to-one feedback is available on practical use of slit lamp biomicroscope, one-to-one feedback may be given on presentations where appropriate, exam feedback is available on request once all papers have been marked.
