OPTO41200 Personal and Professional Development D 10 Full year Undergraduate Level 4 Catherine Porter Unit coordinator 1 FHEQ level (Framework for Higher Education Qualifications) ' Masters/Integrated Masters P4 ' European Credit Transfer & Accumulation System Rating : 5.0 To build on Personal and Professional Development units undertaken in the previous three years of the degree programme.  The unit explores using the optometric literature to inform clinical practice, demonstrates the role of safeguarding, covers the utility of clinical audit in practice, highlights the benefits of peer discussion of clinical case studies in optometric practice and ensures students are aware of their legal and professional responsibilities as a GOC registered optometrist. Group/team working A group presentation covering the structure and function of the following optical bodies: GOC, CoO and AOP. . Innovation/creativity Opportunity to innovate and implement a practice audit system. Oral communication Some assessments are lengthy discussions with academic staff. Problem solving Problem solving skills are required when to undertake the clinical audit element. Research Background research is important for the research paper review. Written communication The clinical audit requires written skills.
