PLAN60342 Real Estate Law in Practice 15 Semester 2 Postgraduate Taught Level 6 Selma Carson Unit coordinator Planning, Property and Environmental Management 1 FHEQ level (Framework for Higher Education Qualifications) ' Masters/Integrated Masters P4 ' European Credit Transfer & Accumulation System Rating : 7.5 This course unit is designed to introduce the fundamental legal principles and areas of law that underpin real estate practice and must be understood in order to operate effectively. We will critically explore how these concepts and rules affect the real estate market and practice.  Although English law will be used to examine issues in detail, students are encouraged to consider these concepts when operating under different legal jurisdictions. Questions will be considered such as:<ul> <li>Your tenant has not paid the rent; what are your options?</li> <li>Somebody is parking on a piece of land on which you want to build; how can you stop this?</li> <li>You purchase a building and then discover structural problems; can you get your money bac</li> <li>How can you resolve a dispute over the amount of rent to be paid?</li> <li>Your client claims that you gave him negligent advice and wants compensation; what can you do?  </li></ul> This course unit is designed to introduce the fundamental legal principles and areas of law that underpin real estate practice and must be understood in order to operate effectively.
