    <Content>&lt;p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify; text-justify: inter-ideograph;"&gt;This module extends the students&amp;rsquo; skills on conducting survey research and dealing with complex datasets by focussing on more advanced methodological aspects of surveys.&amp;nbsp; It covers the most important features of design and analysis in complex surveys. Different sampling strategies involving stratification and clustering will be discussed, in regards to their impact on analysis. Further aspects of survey methodology such as how to compensate for non-response, will be presented as well as methodological issues arising in longitudinal designs, such as clustering and attrition.&amp;nbsp; Since a major focus of the course relates to how these methodological aspects affect the analysis, two different statistical approaches of dealing with all these features of complex surveys will be discussed: the design and model-based approach. &amp;nbsp;The module will also go into more detail and practice with multilevel modelling. A substantial part of the course will be based on computer sessions whereby the techniques of handling complex surveys will be practised with complex datasets.&lt;span style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11pt;"&gt;&lt;font color="#000000" face="Calibri"&gt; &lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</Content>

    <Content>&lt;p&gt;At the end of this module, students should be able to:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; Understand methodological concepts in survey design, estimation and adjusting for nonresponse.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; Assess the strengths and weaknesses of complex survey designs and the resulting secondary survey data.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; Assess how aspects of survey design will impact on the analysis.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; Understand and apply multilevel and longitudinal models with complex survey data.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; Use STATA (and other) software to analyse complex survey data.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; Understand the difference between model-based and design-based approaches to handling&amp;nbsp;complex survey designs.&lt;/p&gt;</Content>

    <Content>&lt;p&gt;There are various opportunities for providing formative feedback on students&amp;#39; work and questions, for example with BB discussion boards and at tutorials. There are also two integrated formative tasks:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; A modelling exercise with a given dataset (due before Easter break): students are invited to run and present the results of a (multilevel) model with their interpretation via Turnitin. Feedback is provided at individual level and also combined common misunderstandings are shared to resolve confusions and enhance understanding.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;bull; A student presentation of their proposed complex survey design study (Part A of the final assignment) - to get live feedback from teaching team and peers (Week 11 or 12).&lt;/p&gt;</Content>
